Hiring Your Teen To Assist You In Your Direct Sales Business
As a Direct Sales business owner, I often need help with general business tasks. I couldn’t afford to hire outside help, so I asked my teenaged daughter if she would like to work for me. Teenagers are often looking for jobs, once they reach 15-16 years of age.
I have always paid my daughter an allowance for doing chores around the house, but now she wanted to earn additional money. I needed an assistant and she wanted a car, so a perfect arrangement was born.
You can decide if you want to pay your teen a weekly flat rate or an hourly wage. We decided to do a weekly flat rate.
Here are a few of the tasks that a teenager is capable of doing.
1. Stamp and label company product catalogs.
2. Assist with set-up and clean-up from product demonstrations.
3. Prepare business opportunity information packets.
4. Filing Documents.
5. Making document copies (copy machine).
6. Sending/Receiving Faxes.
7. Printing invoices and shipping labels.
8. Packaging products for shipment.
9. Typing up customer newsletters.
10. Answering the phone and taking messages.
11. Replying to email inquiries.
12. Assisting with banking.
One important thing to remember is..Your teen is your assistant, and not a replacement for you.
Hiring my daughter to help me with my business tasks was beneficial for both of us. She earned some extra money, and I was able to effectively run my Direct Sales business without hiring outside help.
If you have a teenager and need some additional help with your business tasks, consider hiring your son or daughter to assist you.
