Start With Your Product Empire In Mind
No great building was ever built without a plan. A blueprint.
So how would we expect to build a great home based business if we just hurtle into it, willy nilly, with no plan, no blueprint and no direction?
In this article, I want to encourage you to take the time to think about WHAT you are building before you start work.
As Stephen Covey wrote in his Seven Principles of Highly Effective People, start with the end in mind.
Or at least a vague idea. That will be better than no idea at all.
I am not suggesting that you need a full blown business empire in mind before you even write your first article. What I am suggesting is that you sign on to the idea that your first website will be the first of a family of sites that all bring people into your business.
For example…
Site1.com is where you offer a free report on a subject that is directly related to your main topic. This would be a downloadable report of around 10 pages in length, in PDF format so it can be read on any computer. You would offer it free of charge and all your visitors have to do to receive it is enter their first name and email. Your automated system will then send them the download link.
By sending the link via email, you know they have given you an accurate email address and in the process they have consented to receive further emails from you (until they unsubscribe).
The free report from Site1.com will include several recommendations that they visit Site2.com (or another part of your first site - it doesn't matter which) for further help and detailed information on the topic. At Site2.com, they join another mailing list which is where you promote of one of your lower priced products.
Every product and every website is part of a coordinated marketing and sales funnel.
Eventually it is a matter of numbers. The more people you feed into the big wide open end of your sales funnel, the more money you make.
Even if you have not figured out any of the details at the start, the very fact that you can see the sense of this type of marketing funnel means you have a product empire in mind for your home business. Congratulations. Now just fill in the blanks and build it.
